‘25 Cats Name Sam and One Blue Pussy`
(Sam might be read as a misprint for same; name is misspelt purposely by Andy`s mom and it should be read named; in a way the word ‘same’ define the technique in his artwork)
It’s a book with hand-coloured lithographs Warhol published and which was dedicated to the loss of his beloved cat Hester. The death of his cat caused trauma that fashioned Andy into a cold artist and ‘spayed’ him of tender feelings. In a way the cat died so pop could be born. Cats had sexual and aesthetic significance – they offered Andy with a paradigm for mechanical reproduction.

Sculpting In Time – A. Tarkovsky
‘…modern mass culture, aimed at the consumer, the civilisation of prosthetics, is crippling people’s souls setting barriers between man and the crucial questions of his existence, his consciousness of himself…’
‘..artists exist because the world is not perfect – as man wouldn’t look for harmony but would simply live in it..’
Marina Abramovic – The Artist in Present

Creating this piece of ‘immaterial work’, Abramovic explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the boy, and the possibilities of the mind were the public becomes the performing body.
